Aloma Wright

Aloma Wright was born in Brooklyn and raised in California from the age of six. After graduating from Dominguez High School in Compton, she continued at Foothill College in Los Altos, where theatre found her—and she followed that discovery back to New York.

A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Aloma toured in Ain’t Misbehavin’ before returning to Los Angeles. The stage sharpened the gifts audiences now recognize instantly: the clean comic turn, the steady dramatic center, and a presence that can warm—or command—a room.

Early in her career, while still holding down a 9-to-5, Aloma landed her first recurring role on Power Rangers as Adele, owner and proprietor of a hamburger joint. Her employers were patient with her ambitions, letting her slip out to audition when time allowed; if a call ran long she’d head back to work, and if not, she was at her desk bright and early the next morning—always first or second in productivity. She held that job for about six years before, as she puts it, God released her to pursue acting full-time.

Her television legacy stretches from Nurse Laverne Roberts on Scrubs and Maxine Landis on Days of Our Lives to Mildred Clemons on Private Practice, Gretchen Bodinski on Suits, and Viola Wilson on Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan.

Her two Drama-Logue Awards honor the foundation beneath it all: theatre, discipline, and the joy of honest work. In 2025, she added director to her résumé.

There have been many life lessons along the way—the rest, she says, are saved for the autobiography—and they keep coming. The difference now is that she’s simply enjoying the journey. Through all of it, she gives God the glory, always and forever.
